What is the Lead acid battery production line including which production process?

2023-03-27 18:00

Lead-acid battery is a kind of chemical power supply using lead and acid as positive and negative electrode materials and electrolyte, which is widely used in a automobile ,electric vehicle, communication ,solar energy and other fields.

Lead acid battery

The production line of Lead acid battery mainly  includes the following process step:

Lead and lead alloy’s preparation

Lead acid battery’s main material is lead , need to be refined and alloying to improve their purity and properties. The Commonly used alloy elements are calcium, tin, antimony, etc,. which can improve the mechanical strength ,corrosion resistance and electrical conductivity of the grid.

Manufacture of grid

The grid is one of the components of lead-acid batteries, used to support the active substance and to transmit the electric current. The grid is divided into positive grid and negative grid, which is usually made by gravity casting or continuous punching and expansion net.

Manufacture of silver powder

Silver power is one of the main components of the active substance ,it can be made by ball grinding method or gas phase oxidation method. The ball grinding method is put pure silver or aluminum alloy containing additives in contact with the air in a ball mill and oxidized to tin oxide powder. The gas phase oxidation is to spray high temperature liquid tin with air into the reaction chamber, and form fine mist droplets under the action of high-speed rotation impeller.

Tin paste configuration and coating plate

Mix the proportion of tin powder, sulfur saturated aqueous solution ,additives and other mixed into positive paste or negative paste, and daub on the plate and form a plate with active material layer. The coating process can be carried out continuously on the belt coating machine, and cooperate with the saturated water solution ,pressure and equal process.

Plate’s curing and drying

The coated plate is placed in the curing chamber, and the curing reaction is carried out under the conditions of controlling temperature, humidity and time, so that the active material layer crystallizes into a uniform micropore structure, and the excess water is removed. The curing process can improve the mechanical strength and electrical conductivity of the plate, and promote the subsequent formation process.

Battery assemble

Put a number(usually 6) positive and negative plate are arranged alternately and insert the separator (usually AGM glass fiber separator) to form a plate group, and then place the plate group into the plastic box and weld the terminal connector, inject the sulfur-saturated aqueous solution as the electrolyte, and fianlly the cover is sealed and installed the safe valve and accessories.

Battery formation (or activation)

The assembled new battery is connected to the charging and discharging machine to conduct a certain charge and discharge cycle, so that the active substances on the positive and negative electrode plate undergo corresponding oxidation and reduction reactions, forming a stable working state,The formation process can improve battery capacity and cycle life, and eliminate air bubbles on the surface of the electrode plate.

Battery testing

Conduct various performance tests of the formed battery, such as open circuit voltage, internal resistance, capacity ,self-discharge ,etc,.in order to judge whether it is qualified, unqualified batteries should be repaired or scrapped.

Above information is main production process steps of lead acid battery production line.According to the difference types and specifications of lead-acid batteries ,there are  some special or auxiliary processes ,such as tube plate manufacturing, spiral cluster manufacturing,explosion-proof device installation, etc.

Lead-acid battery production line is a complex and precise system, which needs to strictly control the quality and parameters of each line to ensure the product performance and safety.
