Main points of battery maintenance
2022-07-13 18:31Main points of battery maintenance:
(1) Insulation pads should be arranged in the maintenance channel of the battery pack.
(2) Batteries of different manufacturers, different capacities and different models are strictly prohibited to be used in the same system.
(3) The valve-regulated sealed lead-acid (VRLA) battery does not need to be initially charged before use, but it should be supplemented. The supplementary charging voltage shall be carried out according to the provisions of the product technical specification.
(4) Equalizing charging of VRLA batteries: In general, VRLA batteries should be evenly charged when one of the following conditions occurs (if there are special technical requirements, the product technical specification shall prevail) , the charging current shall not be greater than 0.2C10.
①There are two or more float voltages lower than 2.18V/pc.
②Standing time is not more than 3 months.
③Full float charging operation is up to 6 months.
④Discharge depth exceeds 20% of rated capacity.
⑤For high-voltage DC, the server input overvoltage protection (282V) should be considered when charging evenly.
(5) The charging amount of the battery is generally not less than 1.2 times of the discharged power. When the charging current is kept for 3 consecutive hours and no longer decreases, it is regarded as charging termination.
(6) The float charging voltage of the battery is set in accordance with the requirements of the product specifications, and pay attention to temperature compensation. In general, the float charging voltage is 2.23 ~ 2.25V (25C, 2V single), and the float charging voltage U = U0 (25℃) + (25-t) × 0.003 (t = ambient temperature) at a certain actual temperature.
(7) The maximum difference between the terminal voltage of each battery in the whole group during float charging should be no more than 90mV (2V), 240mV (6V), 480mV (12V), and the internal resistance deviation should not exceed 15%.
(8) Battery capacity test and discharge test should be conducted regularly.
①Annually, a check discharge test should be done, discharging 30% to 40% of the rated capacity.
②It is recommended to do capacity test once every 3 years
(9) During the battery discharge, the individual voltage and discharge current should be recorded at certain time intervals.
Maintenance cycle
(1) There is no clear rule on how often the batteries in the server room should be replaced.
(2) Enterprises can choose the best replacement time according to their own needs.
(3) Replacement time and the battery material, warranty period, the number of charge and discharge, internal resistance changes, battery room temperature, humidity and cleanliness and other environmental factors should be considered.
Replacement of UPS batteries, seemingly simple, in fact, for an operating machine room is not so easy. Since the safe operation of the server room is involved, there is a lot of work to be done from communication to determining the plan to receiving materials and organizing the construction, and each construction step cannot be wrong If you have any request to replace the battery in your server room, please contact BETTER and we will provide you with a solution.
