In 2023 China's Lithium-Ion Battery Export Value Increased by 39% Year-on-Year from January to September
2023-10-27 16:00According to the report released by China Chemical and Physical Power Supply Industrial Association, since 2022, China's lithium-ion battery product export structure has been changing, and the number of consumer goods lithium-ion batteries has been decreasing while the number of lithium-ion batteries for power and energy storage keeps growing rapidly.
In 2023, the cumulative export value of China's lithium-ion batteries from January to September was $48.605 billion, compared with $34.9 billion in the same period of 2022, up 39% year-on-year; the cumulative export quantity of China's lithium-ion batteries from January to September was 2.729 billion units, compared with 2.883 billion units in the same period of 2022, down 5.3% year-on-year. Among them, the export value of lithium-ion batteries in September 2023 was 5.882 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 17.7% year-on-year, an increase of 3.6% compared with the previous month; the export quantity of lithium-ion batteries in September 2023 was 316 million units, a decrease of 4% year-on-year, a decrease of 6.8% compared with the previous month.
In 2023, China's lithium-ion batteries that were exported to the United States amounted to 9.008 billion U.S. dollars during January to September, a year-on-year increase of 34.9%, accounting for 18.5% of China's lithium-ion battery export value; to Germany 7.414 billion U.S. dollars, accounting for 15.3% of China's lithium-ion battery exports; to South Korea 6.251 billion U.S. dollars, accounting for 12.9%.
From January to September, 2023 Fujian Province became the biggest exporter of China's lithium-ion batteries with its exports amounting to 13.104 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 70.9%, rising to the first in 2023 from the third in the same period of 2022, accounting for 27% of China's lithium-ion battery export total value. Guangdong Province, the first in the same period of 2022 fell to the second in 2023 with its exports reaching up to 11.68 billion U.S. dollars, accounting for 24% of China's lithium-ion battery export total value. Jiangsu Province was ranked third with 10.283 billion U.S. dollars export value, accounting for 21.2% of China's lithium-ion battery export total value. The lithium-ion battery export combined values of Fujian, Guangdong and Jiangsu provinces accounted for 72.2% of the China national lithium-ion battery total export value.
